Default Need Some Help And Expertise

I am finding that there are many downloads, which just plain do not work. I am wondering if it is something I am doing wrong, or just a case of people uploading programs, and not double checking to see if their programs really work.

I'll give you an example. I have tried several times to download a Lyndia.com Google APPS DOCS Essential program. Usually it comes in the form of four(4) rar files. I unpack each one in proper order, one at a time, and not all together. When I go to the folder, where it is unpacked, I come up with a ".bin" BIN file, which I can not initiate. I have done this about three or four times, all from different places, but each one is a 'no-go'. I know that my way of unpacking works, because it does on other programs.

Why is this happening? Is there a way I can convert this ".bin" file and make it work? And is this due to shoddy work on the part of the person presenting the uploading? Is it because they do not take the time to double check their work?

I would like to do away with all this unnecessary frustration. If anyone can shed light on the issue, I would be appreciative.

Thanks up front

If I am not wrong .bin format is similar to ISO. So you will need to either write it on a DVD before playing or you will need some virtual mounting tools like Deamon tools to mount and play it.

Any good DVD burn software such as Nero should be able to write the bin file to DVD.

I wonder why someone would do it like that? Why not just do it the regular way? It makes no sense to me.

Is there some advantage to that?

You mean making CD Images? Whi that's simple! They do it so if there are games or even programs with the dimensions less then a CD they usually save it on a DVD under the extensions of an image, by doing so they can put it on a disc along with other programs or games.

Take for example that you have a game witch is not on a DVD but on 6 CDs, everytime you'll install the game or ask for cinematcis or anything, it will need you to put the disc it asks you in, but by making the images and putting them all on a DVD you can simply swap them from there, withowt needing to insert any other CDs.

CD images are also made, to increase original CD/DVDs life, cause if you want to play Star Wars for example you need to have you're CD/DVD in you're CD-ROM, but by making a image of the CD and mounting it through an emulation program, the game takes his cinematics and whatever he needs from that image on you're hard drive, not needing to use the CD anymore.

Not to mention this is a way of making CD/DVD clones as well by making a disc image first.
