Well, here it is fans, the best edition of AOD ever. It originally became available on the excellent FanEdit.org site (and is still available there), but mainly found as a torrent. As for a detailed description, I'll let the creator, Scott Johndrow (aka Ridgeshark), give some details:

This is the most complete version of Army of Darkness available.

Respect copyright! Only download this if you already own several other versions of the movie, legally. Do not pay money for this. Do not charge money for it either.

This version includes both the alternate openings and endings. It includes scenes seen only in the Sci-Fi channel version of the film, and some only seen as deleted scenes on the official discs, such as "Ash fighting Arthur," "Ash recruiting Henry the Red", the extended windmill scene, etc.

It also includes a new sound mix, which has some musical surprises from the great soundtrack by Joe Lo Duca (and Danny Elfman). Most notably the opening logos are different. You'll have to see.

The deleted scenes, which appear in workprint quality, have been cleaned up frame by frame as much as possible. They will never be perfect, but this is about as good as they're going to look and sound until better quality material is made available.

This is, of course, the third in the "Evil Dead" series of films directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell.

1. An extended edition of Army of Darkness, with every bit of extra footage from all 6 different versions woven seamlessly into the film. Once you see how these deleted scenes work in the context of the story, the Theatrical Cut will seem lacking.

2. The best picture quality of any Army of Darkness release. Well, for 90% of the time, that is. Some of the deleted material does not exist in the same quality as the R3 Director’s Cut, unfortunately, but the quality never drops low enough that I lost enjoyment. In fact, it even adds to the overall cheapness of the film in a way, which is a lot of its appeal. Ridgeshark spent a lot of time improving this material as much as he could, and it shows.

3. Both openings and endings are available by choosing one of the menu options. “Overdose” uses the theatrical S-Mart beginning and ending, “Follow the Doctor’s Orders (Basically)” uses the S-Mart beginning and the Director’s Cut ending, and “Overdose with the Original Formula” uses the Director’s Cut beginnings and endings.

For me, “Overdose” represents the best cut of Army of Darkness available on DVD. Despite some video quality issues inherent in the project, this is a perfect release. Rumor has it that Ridgeshark is working on a version 2. I, for one, can’t wait to be one of the first to own it!

All three films use a "branching system" for the many scenes and additions added into them. This creates a small problem if you want to move forward a bit in a program like PowerDVD. You will find that the scene keeps restarting at the beginning, and when you do jump past it, you'll be a bit further ahead in the movie that desired. Not a big issue if you just watch the versions normally.

Some viewers have said they get a "micro of a second" screen jump or pause during scene changes (like a layer transition) where new material has been added. I, personally, never experienced this situation, so it has to do with how you burned it and what player/system you are viewing it on.
